HEFT

The walk you already take, doing more for your body

A weighted vest built for walking, and the runs, stairs and everyday movement around it. Even Steady-Load weight, open sides, arms free. Clip it on, head out the door, and your daily loop starts asking more of your legs, hips and bones. It is for anyone adding a little more to the movement they already do, whether you are getting fitter, staying active, or keeping strong.

Steady-Load design

Why it stays put on a walk

Most weighted vests bounce because the weight sits loose and far from the body. HEFT is built the other way around.

Steady-Load fill

Fine iron sand settles into a slim panel that moulds to your torso and sits flat, so the load stays quiet and close instead of swinging with each step.

Open sides, arms free

The sides are open, so your natural arm swing is left alone and air moves across your ribs. Two centimetres of shoulder padding keep the weight off your collarbones.

Locks to your fit

Dual Velcro waist straps and a front buckle cinch the vest to a wide range of body types and hold it there, so nothing shifts mid-stride.

Simple to use

How it works

1

Pick your weight

Five fixed weights, from 10lb / 4.5kg up to 30lb / 13.5kg. Most walkers start light and choose a heavier vest later.

2

Cinch it on

Over your head, then two Velcro waist straps and a front buckle lock the fit so nothing bounces.

3

Walk your loop

Wear it on the walk you already take. Same route, more work for your legs, hips and bones.

Good to know

Common questions

How much weight should I start with?

A sensible range is 5 to 15 per cent of your body weight, depending on your fitness and how hard you want to push. Start at the lower end if you are new, returning after a break, or older, and work up as you adapt. If you are new to wearing load, begin at 10lb / 4.5kg or 12lb / 5.5kg and give your body a couple of weeks before adding more. Our weight selection guide walks through it.

Will it bounce while I walk?

The Steady-Load iron-sand panels keep the weight flat against your torso, and dual Velcro waist straps plus a front buckle hold the fit. Once it is snug, there is very little left to bounce.

Does it fit men and women?

Yes. The dual waist straps and buckle adjust across a wide range of body types, and the fit was tuned to work on a woman's frame as carefully as a man's.

Can a weighted vest help bone density?

Walking is weight-bearing, which health authorities point to for bone health, and a vest adds load to that walk. A vest is not a medical treatment, and the strongest evidence comes from consistent, gradually increasing exercise. If you have osteoporosis or low bone density, check with your doctor. More on the bone density page.

How do I care for it?

Wipe the shell with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry fully. Do not machine wash or tumble dry it. Stored dry and out of direct sun, it holds up for years.
