About HEFT: A Weighted Vest for Everyday Walking

HEFT makes one thing: a weighted vest built for everyday walking and everyday people, rather than for the gym floor. That focus shapes every decision about the product, and it is the reason the brand exists.

Why we built it

Most weighted vests are designed for training. They are bulky, loaded with steel plates, shaped around a broad frame, and built for short, intense sessions. If what you actually do is walk the dog for an hour, take the stairs at work, or get a lap around the block after dinner, those vests fit awkwardly and feel like a chore to wear. We thought the more useful product was one that made the movement people already do a little more demanding, without asking them to change their routine or join a gym.

That is the whole idea behind HEFT. You already walk. A vest that sits close, stays quiet, and starts light lets that walk ask more of your muscles and bones, day after day, without adding a single minute to your schedule.

What we make

The HEFT vest is adjustable, so one vest covers a range of weights as your fitness changes. The weight comes from iron-sand fill held in sealed panels rather than loose plates. The fine sand settles into a slim panel that moulds to your torso and stays close to your centre of mass, which keeps the load flat and steady instead of swinging as you move. The sides are open so your arms stay free and air can move, the shoulders carry 2 cm of padding to spread the load, and dual Velcro waist straps with a front buckle closure pull the fit snug. Because it hangs from the shoulders and cinches at the waist, one size fits a wide range of bodies, including frames that plate vests never suited well.

How we talk about what it does

We try to be honest about what a weighted vest can and cannot do. Adding load to weight-bearing movement is well supported for fitness, and it is a sensible way to get more out of a walk. It is not a medical treatment, and it will not do the work of a good diet or consistent exercise on its own. Where health is concerned, we point to what research suggests rather than making promises, and we say plainly that you should check with your doctor if you have a medical condition before adding weight. We would rather set a realistic expectation than oversell.

Who it is for

HEFT is for the walker, not the athlete chasing a personal best. It suits people who want their daily loop to count for more: those thinking about bone health, older adults easing back into activity, women who have never found a vest that fits, and anyone who would rather add purpose to a walk than carve out time for a workout. If that sounds like you, the product page has the full detail, and our guides help you choose a weight and set the fit.
